Danilo Gallinari says he hopes to return to Clippers’ lineup by month’s end

first_img Coach Doc Rivers says Clippers miss Danilo Gallinari most of all their injured players Certainly, the road-weary Clippers could use a healthy and productive Gallinari for the season’s final nine regular-season games. They are in the midst of a stretch in which they play nine of 11 games on the road. They conclude the regular season by playing five of six at home, however.“Against Portland, we saw a team (that was) a bit tired, but still nothing is over until the last game,” Gallinari told reporter Zeno Pisani. “It is essential to do well and win on this road trip, which is why I hope to return immediately.” Clippers forward Danilo Gallinari said Tuesday he “hopes” to be back on the court by the end of the month. He hasn’t played since he was injured during the Clippers’ loss to the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 22 and didn’t join the team for the start of its four-game trip Tuesday at Minnesota.“The hand is better,” Gallinari told a reporter for Sky Sports’ Italian-language website. “I did the last test, positive results, so now I can start again with the rehabilitation.”Gallinari has been limited to 19 games this season because of hand and gluteus maximus injuries. He averaged 15.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 32.2 minutes before he was injured when Golden State’s Draymond Green accidentally elbowed him in the hand.If all goes as planned and he suffers no further setbacks, Gallinari said he could be back in the Clippers’ lineup for their next home game, March 27 against the Milwaukee Bucks at Staples Center. He did not join his teammates for their trip to play Minnesota, Milwaukee, Indiana and Toronto. The Clippers’ loss Sunday to the Portland Trail Blazers was their third consecutive, dropping them into 10th place in the Western Conference, two games out of the eighth and final playoff spot. Coach Doc Rivers said the team missed Gallinari more than any of their other injured players.“It’s not even close,” Rivers said.Related Articles Newsroom GuidelinesNews TipsContact UsReport an Errorlast_img read more
