Global Innovation Index Morocco Leads North Africa in Agricultural Innovation

Rabat – Morocco ranks first in North Africa and fifth in the Arab World in terms of global agricultural innovation, according to 2017 Global Innovation Index.Placed after UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in the Arab World, second following South Africa at the continental level and the first in North Africa, Morocco’s agricultural innovation strategy is recognized by the GII for its innovation in the sector of agriculture.In GII’s latest report entitled “Innovation Feeding The World”, Morocco ranked 72nd out of 127 countries and seventh out of 27 lower-middle-income economies. The country was also referred to as a standout performer in agricultural labor productivity. In the recent years, Morocco has been awarded high positions in innovation and business reports.Morocco ranked among the 50 most innovative economies in the world and the second in African economies by the 2017 Bloomberg Innovation Index.In 2016, the World Bank 2017 report ranked Morocco 68th out of 190 countries in ease of doing business, gaining two spots over the previous year.As a result, the kingdom is ranked first in North Africa and fourth in the Middle East. The report cited positive developments in the sector of “enterprise capability”, according to KPMG International and Oxford Economics’ 2015 Change Readiness Index (CRI).In 2014, the Wall Street Journal’s Frontiers said that Morocco is among the top ten frontier markets and is the North African market most favored by foreign investors. read more
